Brooklyn Deli is known for many things – coffee, goulash, apple strudel – but we’re perhaps best known for our bread. Every morning, we bake our Austrian rye sourdough and gluten-free loaves using only the highest quality organic ingredients. Utilising traditional Austrian breadmaking techniques, we’ve developed a unique sourdough recipe that’s easy on your stomach, and absolutely delicious.

WE BAKE 4 DIFFERENT STYLES OF RYE SOURDOUGH BREADS

HAUSBROT: 50% organic rye flour & 50% organic spelt flour, hint of alpine honey.
FARMERS LOAF: 30% organic rye flour & 70% organic spelt flour, fennel seeds, hint of alpine honey.
SUNFLOWER LOAF: 30% organic rye flour & 70% organic spelt flour, sunflower seeds, hint of alpine honey.
SPELT LOAF: 100% spelt flour, hint of alpine honey.

All our Sourdoughs contain a hint of classic ground rye bread spices: anise, caraway, fennel & coriander. Just a small amount of these spices aids digestion and helps to bring out the subtle flavours of rye sourdough.

OUR RUSTIC ARTISAN GLUTEN-FREE LOAF

You don't have to be gluten-intolerant to love our wholesome gluten-free loaf. We include carrots and zucchinis in our dough to keep it moist and full of flavour.

WE MAKE A WIDE RANGE OF SPELT BREAD, BUT WHAT IS SPELT?

Spelt flour - known as Dinkel in Europe - is a wonderfully nutritious ancient grain. Many people who experience sensitivity to other flours and grains find that spelt is easy on their stomach. But the real beauty of Spelt flour is that it results in an exceptionally light and highly nutritious loaf of bread.

OUR PASTRIES AND CAKES CHANGE WITH THE SEASONS

We use only the most beautifully-ripe seasonal fruit and produce to give our cakes and sponges as much flavour as possible. Baking with seasonal ingredients is an exciting challenge for our chefs as they strive to develop new recipes with what's available at the local markets. There’s always something new and exciting to look forward to, no matter what time of year it is.
